Phormium

Phormium also known as New Zealand Flax because the Maoris used it for making a type of linen clothing, as well as for ropes and baskets. Phormiums are a spiky, sword-leafed evergreen that are used as a garden focal point or specimen plant. Some are small enough to use in containers, others can reach one metre plus in diameter and 2 metres plus tall. On mature plants, the flower stalks shoot up above the leaves and produce curving, tubular red or yellow blooms. I offer a range of varieties large enough to be planted immediately into your garden or for planting directly into a tub or container. Most varieties offered are at least 3 years old and have a substantial root system.
